What is Art Therapy?
Art Therapy uses creative art-making—such as drawing, painting, and sculpting—to address emotional and physical challenges. Our art therapists provide personalised sessions to help improve emotional regulation, boost self-esteem, and support mental health recovery. Art therapy can offer a powerful, non-verbal way to communicate and heal from conditions such as anxiety, trauma, and chronic pain.

What are the benefits of Art Therapy?
Art allows us to connect with our subconscious mind, enabling us to challenge conscious behavioural patterns and narratives. The art-making process enables individuals to freely express feelings, thoughts, and stories that they may be unable to put into words. This can be a huge benefit for children and adolescents struggling to communicate and express emotions, and for adults, Art Therapy can help manage everyday stress and improve mental health.
Art Therapy has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety and promote positive growth and well-being. Art therapy has also demonstrated effectiveness in:
- Reducing stress and improving quality of life
- Alleviating pain symptoms, particularly in patients with chronic conditions
- Enhancing self-esteem and self-awareness
- Improving emotional resilience and social skills
- Helping individuals cope with serious health conditions
Additionally, art therapy has shown promise in treating low self-esteem, trauma, and in developing effective coping skills. It can be particularly beneficial for children, elderly patients, war veterans, prisoners, and individuals with diagnosed mental disorders.

What should I expect from my first session?
The first session will go for approximately 60-90 minutes.
This will allow time for introductions and make sure the participant is comfortable in the space and with the process before introducing the art materials. When comfortable, we will engage in art-making, focusing on self-expression and exploration. We will then reflect on the process and insights.
After your first session, we will discuss a plan for future sessions to determine what that may mean for you. You can book further sessions directly with your Mobile Art Therapist.
